Where in the world have I been????

My oh my it has been a day or two since my last blog post!!! I wish it was as easy to post on here from my phone as it is to Facebook!! tee hee.. I have been busy with end of school stuff and then the kids both have summer courses that we are doing. Ashley in Puppetry and also playing T-Ball and Brandon took a golf class that he loved and he wants to take his dad on now for a game or two..

School is out so I am back home too!!! I love my job but love being here with my kids too!! Brandon is moving to MIDDLE SCHOOL!!! Oh my goodness where has the time gone!!! He is a little nervous and had a hard time his last day of school!! The unknown of it all is getting the best of him. But I think it will help that I will be down the hall in the kitchen most of the day!! I hope so anyway!!

I know, I know I still don't have pictures of my aprons that I need to post, but I have fabric for more, so when I get them done then MAYBE I'll post them all at once!!

I'm so excited, today is my 13th wedding anniversary!!! 13 years on the 13th..must be lucky or a blessing!! As my friend Judy said, " there is no such thing as luck, just blessings"... well I hope she is right!!! We celebrated on Sat with the kids.. yup no romantic dinner for us. My trucker man left it up to me.. I opted to take the kids!! They are our heart and soul and are the reason we are a family so they got to go with us.. just pizza and ice cream for our fancy dinner!! But what I'm really excited about, don't tell my trucker... is that tomorrow I get to meet up with my dear, dear friend, Tanya, a Colorado girl that now lives in the desert and Chris and her sister from Missouri!!! I 'meant' both these crazy girls in an eBay group now we are fast friends and feel like sisters that don't fight!! tee hee.. Tanya and I meant up last year and had the best time, well we talked Chris into coming clear out west to meet us and we are going to go junking and then staying in Central City, CO for a night at the casino and maybe even a midnight stroll through the haunted cemetery, that one may require an adult beverage or two before we are brave enough to do that!!!

Well, I still have a million and one things to do before Ash's game tonight and then off to my mom's for the night where the kids get to stay for a couple of days and the Trucker Man still have to stay home and work..hey someone has to stay home and feed the fish!! lol..

Here are a couple of pictures of our Brandon on his last day as a 5th grader!!! We are so proud of him and Ash too!! She's moving on to 2nd grade...not that she liked the idea of not getting the same teacher again.. but she will do great!!!

Hair nets and aprons..

Well, it has been a day or two since my last post..As is touched on in my last post, I got a job as a 'cooks assistant' at the Middle School here and absolutely love it! Yes, I'm a LUNCH LADY!!! But a nice one I So I don a hair net and apron everyday. I have been busy sewing aprons for myself since I didn't have but one and they don't supply aprons that are cute!! Only dull white one!!! So I have made myself four new aprons and have two more that I ordered but aren't here yet ... gotta try and look good, even with a hair net!! lol . My BFF Tanya sent me a cute pattern and a book full of aprons patterns so I need to try a couple of them out too!! Thanks Sis.. love you most!!.. I work with three other very nice gals and I am really enjoying it. I only work 4 1/2 or 5 hours a day, I don't have to go until the kids are on the bus and am off before they get home, so it is perfect for them and me!! I won't have to work in the summers or any vacation or other days the school kids have off!! I sure won't get rich but it's a little spending money and some well needed ADULT time for me. I do miss being home and my routine here, but it has been good for me. It helps I like the ladies I work with and the kitchen mgr told me today she sure was glad she picked me!! Any vote of confidence it a good thing. I am having to get used to being on my feet so much, but it is getting better, I sure do sleep good at night!! I do need to get busy sewing a special order for a friend of mine, but she is being so great and not rushing me. It snowed here today so it will be a good weekend to do some stitching!! I'll get them done Bonnie!!! tee hee.

I hope to be know as a nice lunch lady not like this gal!!! LOL... I did have a student tell me he liked me because I'm nice to them and don't yell all the time!!! So I guess I'm doing okay!! :O)

Well, it's Friday night so I get the night off from cooking..so I guess I'll head to town to get some dinner!!

7 Things About Me!!

One of my best friends EVER, Tanya of Bead & Needle tagged me on her blog, so I’m playing along, it just took me a few days to figure out 7 things about me that you might actually want to know. I live a simple, kind of quiet life with my kids and my Trucker hubby, he isn’t very out going and I on the other hand an VERY outgoing, so how we got hooked up in beyond me. So over the past 12 years instead of him coming more of his shell, I just don’t go like I used to, some because I don’t like to go alone and maybe more because of financial boundaries!! It’s not fun being poor!! But I am rich in many more ways so it’s all good. Okay now the 7 things I thought maybe you wouldn’t necessary think of when you think about me.

1. I LOVE LOVE LOVE antiques, my house is NOT full of them but I wish it was. One of my best days last summer was when I finally got to meet Tanya and we just spent the day at an antique mall in Denver, we had the best time and it felt like we had known each other forever and it was just a nice,nice day and I can’t wait to spend more time with her this summer!! LOVE YOU!!

2. & 3. My trucker husband tells me all the time that I should be the truck driver in our family, I am a night owl, but also an early bird. Don’t know why, but I don’t require a lot of sleep. Maybe it was all those years of shift work but I can go with very little sleep.!!

4. I’ll admit it, I’m a big ole cry baby!!! I cry at the weirdest things, commercials, soap operas, greeting cards, or just kind words, I’ll cry at the drop of a hat. Not a good trait I admit and it isn’t one I have outgrown as I have gotten older!!

5. Yes I was cheerleader, nothing like the ones in the picture above but none the less I wore the skirt and sweater and cheered for the Prairie Mustangs. I can from a very small school and it was one of those things that if you didn’t partake in most of the groups then there wouldn’t be a group. I graduated from a class of 14, so that should give you some idea the size of the school!! I think my senior year there were 180 students and the was K-12!! But I loved it, we were one big family!!

6. I love, love, love volleyball. I played in high school and college and on several city league and intramural teams. If it weren’t for my knees hurting so much I would still be playing as much as I could. I played when I was preggers with Brandon and Ash, but since then I haven’t played much.

7. I really like hearts, I made the banners in the pictures for my Ash, she said I didn’t have enough Valentine’s decorations. But hearts have always been a favorite of mine. Our wedding cake was even heart shaped, and I have them worked into my décor in most of the rooms of my house.

Well there you have it, 7 things about me that you may not have know. I think I am suppose to pass this on to ten other bloggers, but I’ll leave that up to you…. Oh and I just got a job too!!!! I’m going to be an assistant cook at the Middle School here, not a lot of pay, but great hours. I only work 4.5 or 5 hours a day, so I can still get the kids on the bus and be home when they get home and I will be home for holidays and in the summer!! Perfect for them and me for now!!

Birthday, Bowling & Basketball!!!

Seems like forever since my last post, I guess I've just been busy!!

Ash had her 7th Birthday on the 19, it would have been my Grandpa Kings 107th!!! She had a great day, besides having a bout with the flu bug and missed some school that week, but she got her cowboy boots she wanted and I made her a Tiger that she requested and then on Saturday we surprised her and took her bowling for two hours.  Just the four of us!! It was fun and the kids loved all the bowling they got to do in two hours.  Brandon is playing basketball so we have been busy!!

My Trucker bowling for the first time since he was 11 or 12, we won't say how many years that is!! He did great!!

Heart & Flowers

In my last post I had some fabric all set to make a special order lamp for my friend and good customer, Judy, in Florida and after a few unexpected delays..moms perm, me being sick, and on and on...lol... I finally got it done today and I must say I do like it a lot. I wasn't sure about the greenery at first but now that is is all together I just love it and Judy approved to it will be headed to her kitchen in the morning.

My trucker man is finally back to work, but still up in the air about his truck so I think all the stress of him not working and just no money in general has me sewing, I think mainly to keep my mind off things and I also go two sets of this Valentine's Day heart garland done today also!! My daughter, Ash didn't think we had enough decorations for Valentine's Day, I think after all the Christmas pretties, my sparse heart decorations weren't quite enough, so I made these up today just for her!!! She was excited and said she loved them all and couldn't pick her favorite one!! I also got a call for a quick mending job today so I made a little spending money today which is always a good thing!!!

Well, now that I'm back in the sewing mood, I need get busy and try to get some things on Esty and give that a try!!!

Shades of Blue and a splash of red....

I need to get to work....on something... I haven't sewn anything for a few weeks and I'm getting the itch do get busy. I am struggling with what tho. I have a special from my friend Judy in Florida. She is a great customer and needs a lamp for in between Christmas and Easter. I don't want to make it to much of a Valentine's Day theme, I want her to be able to use it all year not just for a month of so. So I found this pretty blue floral print and am going to make some hearts out of it and then apply a smaller heart in the middle out of osnaburg using a blanket stitch. It's for her kitchen and it sounds beautiful...navy blue and cream with a touch of red and barn wood floors, and a big rag rug...I'd love to see it in person. So I'm going to add just a touch of red in this piece possibly with the bow or the container I use. I haven't decided on that yet, wanted to make the hearts and go from there. I hope she approves of my choice of fabric.. with only ONE fabric store in town and no funds to travel or shop on line I had to do with what I found here. I love it tho and think it will make pretty hearts and I think I may makes some Easter Eggs with it also for a shabby chic look!! What do you think.. What do you buy?? I need to make items to sell and that is the key word... TO SELL... I need to use my time on things that will sell for me. I need the income and would like your opinion on what you look for, I'm up for ideas and suggestions I got a couple from the ladies in my eBay group and they reminded me of things that have sold well for me in the past and I will get started on those too, so throw something at me, I may just run with it!!! :O)

I also have some great cutter quilt pieces that will make great prim eggs.... oh my, the wheels are starting to turn again.... 

Okay now I'd better get to it!!!

Happy New Year!!??!!
Will it be, can it be??!!
Well we had a really wonderful Christmas, the kids were happy and my Trucker man really outdid himself and got me more than I asked for or feel like I deserved.  I got a net book, so fun.  I'm typing on it now!!  But still learning how to use it.  It is super fast and so nice to be sitting in the living room surfing the blogs and FB instead of in the basement.  Problem, trucker and kids want on it too!!!  So I share..:O) And we did finally got some much needed snow!! Yes I said much needed...it is so dry here, we need to moisture that comes with it.  But  bitter cold along with it.  It is so pretty but can warm up now!!
Now for the "New Year" and the bitter pill we are having to swallow, already.  Actually the "old year" didn't end the best after Christmas.  The trucker has had the demons with his trucks the past couple of years,and he finally found one, we thought, that was going to be a good truck for him and it went down on him and it isn't just a 'small fix'.  It's a 10K fix, many more K's than we even have.  He is just sick about it and really has been lost the past few days.  He hasn't worked since Friday of Christmas Eve.  We took the truck to a shop on Tues hoping to get news that is may only be a minor problem but no such luck, it's major!!!  He has only had this truck about 3 weeks, and only bought it because was told that he had a complete overhaul,  well people aren't honest and now we are no better off than we were three weeks ago with no truck, because basically we have still have no truck!!  And he as tried call some people about renting or leasing until we can get this one fixed or replaced but haven't had much luck there. They guy he bought it from wants to try to help, he wants to do a quick bandage fix, not the fix it needs to get going, but we know that bandages come off and it would soon need the major fix and it would be all on us then. So frustrating and sad.
 I did very well at my shows but used that money for Christmas, if I would have known I would have rat holed some of that money to help out, but he was working and so excited about this new truck.  It was running so great!!!  Talking about taking some time to go back to Illinois for Easter to see his mom, but now we are just lost and trying to keep our spirits up for the kids sake.  They just play so well and are such happy kids.   It breaks my heart to see my husband like this.  He works hard and is honest as the day is long, so for someone to NOT show him the same really tears at his heart and soul.  
We will make it but we were really looking forward to a New Year of new hope and things turning around for us...but it's early....!!!  

Cookie Art My Tree Simply wish

The kiddos are home now!! Yay... I LOVE my kids being home with me.  Yesterday we tackled making some sugar cookies. Well, let's say we ALL started and I finished them up.  But it was fun.  I'm no Martha Stewart but they did turn our pretty and they are pretty yummy!! 

 We tried to be creative, Ash was handling the white frosting part of the time!!

The days are growing shorter when the paper will be flying, then just as quickly as the moment is there it will be gone and it will be filled with empty boxes and torn paper and bows.  But the LOVE that will fill the room is,for me, the best present ever and the best part of the day!!  I didn't ask for anything from my Trucker man, I just told him all I cared about was that we were together and the kids have a great day.

"I already have enough toys.."

Out of the mouths of babes. My son Brandon makes me so very proud everyday, but last night was a very proud one for me.  He was having a tough day anyway.  He was asking about a new jacket for Christmas and I asked him why he wanted a new one when he had his 'red' one...

Now the story..

He had left his 'red' jacket at school sometime ago and I told him to make sure and get it out of the lost and found box, well as things go, you forget or don't think about it again because the weather has been cold enough that he has had to wear his heavier coat.  Well so when he asked about the new jacket for Christmas, I asked if he didn't get his out of the lost and found box.  He said he looked and it wasn't there and that another boy was wearing it now.  I then asked him if he asked for it back and he said he did but the boy just told him he 'bought' it.  Well if you know my son, you know is a bit of a tender heart, not a baby, just very sensitive AND the last thing he ever wants to do is get anyone in trouble or to be called a tattle tale or teacher's pet.  Kids at this age can be so mean and the last thing Brandon wants is to not have someone  NOT like him.  He's a little insecure about that,  but we want him to stand up for what is right and for himself.  So we told him he should have told a teacher or us when this happened so we could get it taken care of, he just started to cry and shook his head "no".  I felt so bad for him because he just doesn't want to get any kid in trouble, even one that stole from him. So I've emailed the teacher and called the school but haven't heard anything back yet.  I just wish things like this didn't happen and if that boy wears that coat home, what has he told his parents where it came from?  If one of my kids came home with a coat I didn't buy I would sure be finding out where it came from, but maybe they don't care and that is why he thinks it is okay to keep it!!  Sad world we live in at times.  So we get past that trauma and I was looking in Brandon's planner and there was a note from "Santa" saying that all the kids at school need to write a letter to him and the best letter will win a prize.  It was due today so I asked him if he had written it at school and he said no and still through the tears he was shedding from the coat thing, he told me that he wasn't going to write a letter because he already has enough stuff and that some other kids might need new toys... Okay so now I'm in tears too, but I did talk him into writing the letter and telling Santa what he told me... here is part of his letter!!

"..there are kids all over the world that don't have toys and I have lots of nice things, so my wish this year for Christmas is for you give the gift you had for me to someone else because they need it more than I do... and please don't forget my sister Ashley, she wants a guitar!!"

Okay, I'm being a little lazy today and letting Jen of Dangerously Domestic handle my blog post, but when I saw these trees I just had to share her tutorial with you!!! She is so creative and there are so many pretty ones, it's very hard to choose a favorite!!!

Well one more birthday under my belt!!!  My trucker Man and kiddos took me out to dinner at Delgado's Dugout. It's a Mexican/Italian restaurant that is in the basement of an old church.. Pretty good food, but really good drinks!! wink wink!!

We had a nice family dinner and then came home for ice cream cake which only Ash had some, the rest of us were too full!! 

I got a very nice new wallet, but no money in it!!! tee hee... and a new camera.. so the kids had to take some pictures, the don't 'center' very well so I did some editing and cropping, but it takes very nice pictures and I didn't know how to use the timer yet so none of all four of us at the same time!!! lol..

I must say I am feeling LOVED today!!

It is my ?? birthday, and I was greeted by my kids with a "Happy Birthday's" this morning and I beautiful card from my Trucker man!! I have had a pretty good with in the 'gift' category too!! A few of my Ebay friends and I had a swap of snowmen this year and boy did I load up. I 'borrowed' the picture of Tanya of Bead and Needle, I was to busy...aka... lazy to take my own picture!!! Hers was so nice I knew she wouldn't mind!! Thanks Sis! :O) Anyway as you can see in the picture I have some very nice snowmen to scatter about my home now and they will be cherished for ever.

The snowman on the right is from Pat,ahlcoopedup , the hand painted book and little snowman on the right are from Chris, theantiquepallet,the cutter quilt mitten in the back is from Suxie, Yankeelaneprimitives, it a card holder..how clever is that!! The little snow girl in the middle and the prim gingers were my items and the smiley snow girl on the left is from Tanya, and the snowman in the red in front is from Barb, I don't think she has a blog..sorry Barb!!!

She spoiled me this year.. She is so very talented and I am lucky enough to have not one but 4 of her beautiful creations!!! Here are the two latest ones.

This one is so pretty... It's my birthday present!! It's tiger eye agate and brass, the work on it is just amazing and I will always cherish it and anything she makes me !! I love it Sis and you too!!

Okay this next one is special to me for more than one reason!!!

This one is to DIE FOR!!! Actually this one was a choker necklace that my mom had and was getting rid of, I snagged it up but it was to tight on my neck so I sent it to Tanya just to MAKE IT LONGER FOR ME!! That's it and this is what I got!!! Mind you all it had before was a chain and the large stone piece with the silver pieces in the middle, but now it is full of silver and REAL turquoise beading and a extra chain with a silver and turquoise bead. Simply amazing!! I can't tell you how beautiful it is and the work, time and money she put into it for me, makes it all the more special!! I may have to hide it from my mom now, she may want it back!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!! Thanks again girls and for making my day great. My family is taking me out on the town for dinner tonight!! I really am blessed and I guess birthdays aren't so bad after all!!!

Happy Thanksgiving all my blogging friends.

Find the good in the day and tell those you love that you do love them. As we enjoy time with our families there are those that don't have family or are separated because they can't afford to travel or because they are off fighting for our country so we can enjoy this day. Or sadly, as happened just yesterday in a city not far from here, a Sheriff's Deputy was shot and killed with his own gun while protecting the public. I worked with law enforcement for several years and any time a fellow officer is killed in the line of duty it affects officers not only in that department but ALL law enforcement officers, dispatchers, fire fighters, EMS.. any one who works in that line of work knows that by doing so it could well be their last day, because of the people that are out protecting are also the ones that can turn on you in a split second and make that shift your last one!! May Deputy Brownlee RIP, and his family know that he died a HERO and find some peace in that. He leaves behind a wife and four children. Prayers are going out to them at this difficult time!!

Give Thanks for those that you love and those that gave all so you can tell the ones you love how you feel about them!!

In and out in four hours!!!

Well that show was quick and painless and I did very well in a short amount of time!!!

Here is our table, my sister Toni does the cool wooden stars, hand painted ornaments and had the candy cane door hangers! The rest was what I had left from last weekend and then the star snowmen I did a few of!

This table looks so sparse compared to last weekend but I sold out of the star snowmen on the springs, I actually probably could have sold more. I'll know that for next year!! This sale was actually for the church ladies Homemade Noodles and baked goods, they decided to try for some craft vendors this year and there were only 6 of us. Toni and I the only ones with prim crafts, but for the first year it went very well. The lady I called for my booth told me that is was bonkers at 8am when they opened, because of the noodles. There were two big tables of egg noodles and by 8:05 there were GONE!! They actually had to make people go wait in the hall because they were coming in before 8 to get the noodles, they wanted to be fair to the ones that didn't come until 8!! So there was a line waiting to get in!! And some of the people that came to buy them and saw they were gone didn't even bother to stay and look at the rest of the stuff!!! They advertised the bake sale from 8-10:30 and the crafts from 8-3:00, well after 10 there wasn't much traffic so by noon we were done and on our way home, but in those 4 hours I made over $275, so I am tickled pink about it!!! A couple of the people from the church asked our opinion about how it went for the first year, so I suggested that they let us set up our tables the night before so that they wouldn't have to have the door open for the vendor early and that way there wouldn't be anyone "sneaking" in early and try to get noodles, yes there were some trying to do that.. Those must be some good noodles!!! LOL... and we also suggested that they run both the craft show and bake sale the same hours because once the crowd was gone for the bake sale we just kind of sat around, that way if they want the crafts the buyers will come early for that too!! They were very open to anything since it was their first year and they said that they will call the vendors that were there this year first to offer table space before they advertise it to everyone else.. I think it can turn into a very nice bake sale/craft bazaar for them and it was sure nice for us not to have to drive out of town to do a show!! And that fact I did so well in that amount of time made it even better!! I do have a few leftovers but I will put them in the consignment shoppe and hope they sell out there!!! Well now I can start my Christmas shopping and relax a little...wait, did I just say Christmas, Shopping and Relax in the same sentence!!! LOL....Oh my, I do need a break!!! :O)

Maybe in January!!!

Oh I may be crazy, but I'm going to do one more show!!! But it's all so my family can have a nice Christmas without putting any extra stress on my Trucker!! He is having so many problems with his truck and hasn't been working much so the money I make on these shows helps out. It's not a big show, it's a Homemade Noodle and Bake sale at a local church that is very popular, and they recently added some vendor booths, so I didn't make anything new for it except more of these Snowman Stars. They are on an old rusty bed spring and at the last show I only had 3 and they were some of the first things gone. So I made up 6 more, if they don't sell they will be great teacher gifts so no matter they will be part of someones Christmas!! They aren't quite done in this picture, I added a bow to each one and then glittered them up. They are pretty cute!! I did wrap one of the springs but liked the unwrapped ones just as well, so I left them rusty!!

I also got my giveaway winners boxes in the mail, they went to Oregon, Nebraska and Pennsylvania, I hope Jan, Leslie and Amy enjoy their goodies. And thanks to all of you great ladies that came back and congratulated the winners, you all are wonderful!!

I have been trying to get things organized this week but haven't had much luck!! Once I decided to do the show this Sat I have just left my boxes in the basement and not done much with them so I won't have to pack and re-pack again until after!! Hopefully with less to pack up again!!

Well I'm still working away trying to get ready for a show. I did one last week and did just fair, it was in a tiny town and mostly I sold to other vendors and a few of just the local towns people. But it was a fun day spent with my sister and my mom and lots of old friends.

I had quite a day yesterday, I was boiling water to make some tea and I went and sat down to wait for the water to boil and forget to take the pot holder off the top of the kettle, well you can imagine...it fell off into the fire, so I had a small fire and then I was working on some tiny snowfolks and was trying to hurry up the drying process and put their little dresses in the microwave to dry and I came to the basement to put clothes in the dryer and... Yes you guessed it they started on fire!!!! Burnt three of them beyond repair, so I had to make three more and I didn't put them in the microwave this time... so here they are.. I love them!!! They are tedious work but worth it!!! I hope I sell them all!!!

HE MADE IT!!!

I recently won a blog giveaway from Pat,ahlcoopedup,and he arrived yesterday!!! He is so nice, which I had no doubt he would be and Pat even tucked in a couple additional goodies, a cute star snowman ornie and some great room spray that smells like cinnamon!! It is wonderful. I sprayed "Frosty" with it!!!

The elections are over!!!
THANK GOODNESS, and now we can answer the phone again, turn on the tv and not be afraid to open the mail box!!!

This beautiful sunrise greeted the kids and me was we walked out to the bus this morning and it just made my day better by getting to witness its beauty.
GOD IS GOOD!!

Today is a new day and life goes on  and it is just a little more peaceful here today!! 
I'm still working like crazy to get ready for my shows, but that's going great too!!!

Okay, so I have been consumed by snowmen!!! I have two shows in the next month just a week apart...so I have been frantically sewing stuffing and dressing snowmen!!

Some are done!!

Some are in piles.....

Some are in my chairs...with no bodies!! OH MY!!

But they are ALL OVER MY HOUSE!!!

These guys needs trees and some need faces and hats!!

This guy is near complete..needs some glitter!!

I have them in bag and "parts and pieces" laying about!!

Some are in boxes!!!They look like they want out!!!

I am dreaming of snowmen, but when they are done, I need to do some of my arrangements and some ornies and then I always think...."I can do just a few more things".. these shows are my Christmas money so the better I do the better the Christmas for my kids is, so I think if I can get a few more things done that is just that much more that Santa can do!!! I do enjoy it so that does help and thank God for my family being so tolerant of all the snowmen in about every room of the house!! I don't have a lot of storage so it's gets a to looking like a snowman village before to long!!!

I'm ALONE all day now!!! What to do..what to do!!!

Okay summer is almost over and now I find myself alone at home!! Yikes...this could be bad or really good, I'll get some sewing done, clean my house and just have some me time!! Maybe!!! It has been June since I posted here, but we did have a busy summer!! My Mother in Law came for a visit in May, then as soon as summer break began we started hitting the pool. Did go as much as the kids would have liked but we did go more than last year for sure. We did get to go the lake with my family for a week, it was great fun and the kids had a blast playing with their cousins everyday!! I July we went to the County Fair in New Raymer, near where I grew up and they had a tiny tot pig show, all the kids had to do was borrow a pig and they got to 'show' it, it was a hit and great fun. Ash got to show Clover and they all got a dollar and a medal for their efforts!! Then our Fair here in town, which the kids call the "rides" fair because there are carnival rides. We went 4 nights to the rides and my Trucker and I even got on a few the kids. It is always fun and a good way to end the summer. We went school shopping and celebrated Brandon's 11th birthday on the 24th of August and they had to start school the next day!!! But we made a night of it for him, took him out for dinner and then home for cake and ice cream and of course the gifts!! My kids are growing up way to fast. Brandon will be in middle school next year and Ash is loving 1st grade so far, but says it is "so long", she's still getting used to being gone all day but says they seem to be outside a lot, which she loves so all is good!!
Me well things here are about the same, my Trucker works very hard every day and is still plugging along trying to keep us a float!! He got a 'new to him' truck this summer but that is a sore subject so we won't talk about it!! lol!!
I need to get back on track with my sewing, the fall show I do will be here before I know it, so I'd better get cracking!!

Okay You can bust my chops if you want too!!! It was been waaay to long since my last post, but as most of you know it is a busy, busy time of year with the end of school activities and now the summer ones have started. from where I see it... just means this is what I've been doing and what it the most important to me, so my blogging has gone down some, but I told myself I'm going to try to keep up better and post something at least once a week..I do miss blogging, I miss all of you!!! My family has needed my attention so that is what I've been doing...I just don't take the time to do it. I know facebook has taken the place of some blogging, it's fast and easy so I'm sure that has a lot to do with it!!

Things here are about the same, the economy is still hurting us and we still are in limbo about our house. My trucker hubby still works almost non-stop trying to hold off the wolves a little longer.

My kids are still the light of my life and I really don't know what I'd do without them!!! They are both growing way to fast and make me proud everyday. Brandon is going to be in the 5th grade next fall and Ash in 1st. They both had great school years and just grew so much at the individuals they are!!

I haven't been doing much "creating", not in the mood and not a lot of time really!! I hope to get back into it this fall and have lots done for the winter shows. Money is always an issue and hard to make much when you can't buy supplies to do it with! Times will get better, I have faith they will one way or another. I continue to look for work. There really isn't much in our small town and when there is something the number of applicants is mind boggling I'm sure. I have had 3 interviews and feel lucky to have gotten that far into the process. Something will come up sooner or later for me.

In the past few months I have kept most of my 60 pounds off, gaining a little back when my Mother in law came to visit!!! LOL... We ate out too much when she was here and now I'm paying for it!!! But it sure was nice to have her here from Illinois and the kids just couldn't stop talking about her stay. They have gotten to spend some time on the farm with my folks too and cry when we leave, there is always something fun going on at Grandma Jan's house!!!

I was so lucky last week to get to meet one of my eBay group members, Tanya, a Colorado native that now lives in Henderson, NV..we became fast friends online and we meant up in Denver the other day and it was like meeting an old friend. We shopped at an antique mall for 4 hours and had the best time!! I can't wait until her next visit. Her folks still live here so she gets out this way a couple time a year, go check out her blog, it is fantastic and so is she, LOVE YOU GIRL!!!, http://beadandneedle.blogspot.com/.

I have started walking and I take pictures on my walks, part of my "from where I see it" title... you really do see your surroundings differently when you walk alone and very early (5:30am) in the morning, you get to see and hear the world around you waking up and it is beautiful!! I have one neighbor dog that was a little aggressive that early and a very big German Shepard, but I take him a dog treat now so we are good buddies!!!

Well that's about it for now!! I really have missed this and I will try very hard to keep it up!! So until next time. thanks for your patience with me and keep checking back... I'll try to do better and here are a few snap shots from the past few months!!

There are times I just feel like this little guy...can't get anything caught!! lol..   

Please don't give up on me, I know I have been gone and haven't been posting, I'm just doing a lot of soul searching and really need to get me happy again. I'm usually a very up beat happy person and not afraid of anything, but this last year has been....well....HELL on me and my family and has taken a toll on all of us. My heart isn't happy and I'm trying to fix that. I haven't done much crafting, just enough to keep me busy but I've cleaning out closets and my mind of bad things and trying to get the courage to move on and make things better. I have applied for a few jobs and had a couple of interviews but I'm sure in this economy that any jobs gets lots of applications, so I feel blessed that I even got an interview. But it still stings when you don't get a call back. I need a job so badly, my family needs it, for a lot of reasons. I just need to take time for me on the inside. I got the outside looking pretty good now the inside needs to be happy too. So if I don't post a lot or much, or email you, it's nothing personal, it is for me,but not towards anyone else, I just need to fix me and sometimes I just don't have happy words to say, so as the old saying goes...if you can't say anything nice.... Keep checking in on me..I will be back and the old me will be here again, very soon I hope.. I'm never alone as long as I have my friends!!!

Not much going on in my world these days. Kind of calm after the storm with the holidays getting past us.. Need to get back on track with my eating.... The holidays were tough on me but I didn't gain but a couple pounds so I need to drink my water and start eating right again and it will come back off!! My baby will be turning 6 in just a few days!!! I can't believe how time flies by and we seem to miss most of it!! As we usher in this new year, this NEW DECADE...what will it hold for us!!?? I guess if we all had crystal balls or could look into the future we would, but would we really want to??? Sometimes I do wish I could and see what it holds for my family, we have had such a hard year that I would love to know how we weather this storm and see if we come out of it happier and without the worries we have had this past year. But then there is the other side of that and if we don't come through this as I hope, I don't want to see where we will be or what shape we are in. So I guess I'll take it ONE DAY AT A TIME..and hope and pray for the best!! I have to believe that there are better days ahead and that my family will be happy no matter what happens. I thing I know my kids won't have to do without is LOVE!!

Speaking of LOVE.....I thought this was just the coolest thing.... the kids and I were walking in one of our local parks and Brandon noticed a heart shape in the side of a big tree, and asked how it got there. I told him some young lovers probably carved it in the tree to declare their love.. but there are not initials in and and when I looked closer it looks to have been carved a long time ago. The bark is splintered around the heart carving and the bark in the middle it bulging out on the inside of the heart shape. It's like it tried to grow out after the heart was carved. It almost looks like there was a branch there and it was just in that shape when it fell or was cut off. But it sure makes for a good picture!! Maybe cupid it and fill it with the letters of two star crossed lovers!!! Oh to be young and that in love again!! :o) Anyway.... until next time I hope that this new year brings only love to your hearts and that the next few months will be filled with joy and prosperity!!!

This year is quickly coming to a close and it can't come soon enough for me!! We have had a very trying year and our hopes for the New Year are that things will get better one way or the other. But I'll have to refer back to a post I did a few months ago about counting my blessings...those of which I do have many, my kids are the blessings that I can always count on, they keep me grounded and remind me everyday that they love me and they will always be here for me!!! I love you Brandon and Ashie Jo!!! I am blessed with a DH that works hard and tries very hard to keep us going and the wolves from knocking at the door!! Thanks Joe for your steadfast effort to keep us afloat. I'm blessed with a family that is always there for me, they have my back and I know that and am reminded everyday how lucky I am to have them on my side. I am blessed the friends that are my rock!!! They know who they are and if it weren't for them I would have been lost for sure. We have had some rough spots this year but with the love of my friends I have made it through. I am sorry for all the phone calls that may have ended up with me crying on your shoulder,or anything I may have done or said to hurt anyone I have come across this year. Bear with me, I'm trying to become the person I know I can be and become happier and find so peace in my life. Things don't always go as planned and my heart is showing that this year, but I think I am on my way to being happier and making those around me that way too!!! I have to start with ME, you know the saying, If MOMMA AIN'T HAPPY AIN'T NOBODY HAPPY!!! LOL... So here's to a great NEW YEAR for all of us. I hope it brings to you and your family all the hopes and dreams you wanted and fewer heartaches and hardships along the way!!!

Getting ready for Christmas

The kids are so excited for Christmas and getting to see Santa and tell him what they want made it even more magical for them, but now they think time is standing still until the 25th!! The city rec dept hosts a "Santa at the Center" each year, and they do a great job of having lots for the kids to do while they wait their turn to sit on Santa's lap and tell them their wishes. They got to decorate ornaments, do coloring pages and have cooking and cocoa and watch movies. The center has an indoor pool and I wish I would have gotten a picture of it. They had penguins on surfboards floating in the pool and lots of lights and blow up trees snowmen and Santa's all around it. It was pretty cool!!! Kind of a blurry picture, I had to use my phone so it isn't the best but they look pretty happy to be by Santa. Brandon thought he was too old for all this fuss until we got there, then he was just as excited as Ash!!

This is an antique fire truck that is all decked out with lights and music, the kids love it. It gets lots of use during Christmas. The Santa delivers toys to needy families on Christmas Eve with it!! Pretty neat!!

The pool full of snow. It was pretty cold waiting in line but thinking of the hot summer in the pool made it even colder!!!!

Me on my birthday!! Poor Brandon only had the energy to lay on the couch!! Not the bucket by the couch!! lol. He was pretty sick but he tired to help me celebrate!!! Of course Ash had to "help me" open my gift from them. Her dad did the shopping and she wasn't happy that he got me a candle, she wanted to get me the "Santa Buddies" movie..more for her than me I think!! lol :0)

DH took the picture, hence cutting off Brandon's head!!! It was a pretty good birthday despite being up all night with Brandon being sick!! We were both very tired all day, but it was a good day because all the people I love the most where there with me!!

I hope you are feeling the magic of Christmas and family as it gets closer with the passing days. It's the gift of family and friends that I find makes me the happiest. No gift that goes under a tree will ever replace that!!

BRRRRR IT'S REALLY COLD HERE!!!

Hello from the deep freeze!!! It has been brutal cold here and I know most of the US has been very cold this week. We had a BIG snow storm yesterday and just bitter cold today!!! I haven't been here for awhile AGAIN!! I have gremlins in my house I swear!!! My computer crashed but thank goodness for a good friend of mine that used to work with, I got it fixed free of charge. People still do good deeds!!! Thanks Larry!!! I had a birthday while I was gone!!! I had a pretty good day. With gifts from my DH and kiddos and an ice cream cake and yes I ate some!!! I'm still doing well on my weight loss 59.2 lbs down this morning!!
Christmas is sneaking up on my fast and my kids are so excited and counting the days!! Ash brought home a bell from school with a paper chain hanging from it with the days left until Christmas on it and every morning she takes a link off until it is all gone. She said tonight, "Mom I really like this Christmas week, meaning month, it is really fun!". Both the kids helped decorate the tree so I have lots of ornaments in the same spot but I left them right where they put them!!! It is perfect that way!!
We have had a run in with the flu.. Brandon got it on my birthday, so he and I were up every hour on the hour dealing with that and then the next day Ash got it and DH and I thought we had avoided it... wrong!!! So far DH is okay but I got hit yesterday afternoon and still feeling pretty puny today!!! But am starting to feel human again so I hope I'm over it by tomorrow!! And I hope DH doesn't get it. He isn't working much because of the snow and doesn't need any down time for the flu.

Here I am !!!!
I have been busy, busy.. Not like the rest of you aren't, I just need to not be on the computer when I have my kids to look after. Otherwise the whole day is gone and nothing gets done.
It has been almost a month since my last post and thanks for you that have checked on me. I love you all!! Here are a few pictures to prove that I have been working my fingers to hot glue blister and cuts I don't know where they came from!!! I did a show in a neighboring town last weekend with my two sisters and my mom and we all did well. I took 24 of my arraignments and sold ALL of them but 4!! And I took 14 snowman nodders on rusty springs and only have 3 left over!!! It was a great day and I had someone ask me if my and one of my sisters were twins.. Shes the skinny one. Not that my other one is heavy ... she is not either.. don't want to hurt any feeling, she looks great too, but my sister Sue and I have always looked a lot alike and used to get mistaken for twins a lot when we were younger and I was thinner and it happened again!!!! I have lost 56 pounds now and am wearing the size of jeans I did in high school!!! Yay me!!!! lol... So it was a great day and I got to spend it with my sisters and mom. As you can see by our booth it was packed, well it was OVERFULL and almost too full, thankfully for us the vendor next to us didn't come so we got her booth and it made it so much better, we could spread out and really display our things so they could be seen!!! I got lots of nice complements and an offer to do a booth at a big show in the fall, I just don't know if I can get that much done!!! I'm doing a very small show today with my mom with my leftovers and then what I have left will go to the consignment shoppe here in town.

My sister Sue has candles and these cool snow fence gates she makes. She only had two of them but they both sold before the show was over!!!

We took four of my dads child's hutches and sold one and gave his number to a lot of people that were very interested in them!!! Go DAD!!!
My sister Toni, who you can kind of see standing there in a red sweater sold some adorable hand painted ornaments made from old light bulbs.. She was a hit!!!! Yay Toni!!! But yes most of the other stuff is what I did!!

I made these yesterday. I just love them!! My mom GAVE me a big box of the "real deal" flour sacks to make t-towels out of, so I transferred these vintage Christmas images on them tied them up with grosgrain ribbon and they are cute as can be!!! I'm taking them with me to the show today, I may have to make ME a set, but not to use just to display!! I love them. The snowman one is to die for...he is sooo cute!!

I made three different ones, A tinsel tree, candy canes and the snowman!! Cute stocking stuffer gift or teacher gift!! Oh the wheels are turning!! HO HO HO!!!

Thanks to all of you new followers, I am amazed each time I log on and see I have more. I do appreciate all of you more than you know. I love sharing my love for creating with all of you, in between my otherwise ordinary, stressful, wonderful life...thanks for taking time out of yours to share mine!!!

Having a ME day!! October 24,09

I'm proud of ME!!! I have officially lost OVER 50 pounds!!! Not much over but hey, I got to toot my own horn a little.. When I tell people the very first question is..."How did you do it?'' and when I tell them I usually get the.."well I don't have time to do that!!! " But I have been telling them back...MAKE TIME!!! DO IT FOR YOU!!! LOVE YOURSELF MORE!!! My husband actually saw an infomercial about an "Eating Plan" not a diet and he is the one who wanted to order it. So we did and we did this together a couple of years ago and that time I lost 40, but did gain it back. But this time is just different for me. First I saw a picture of myself and just was just so disappointed in myself that I knew I had to change something or I would never be happy. So on July I strated and haven't looked back since. I eat actually about 6 times a day, small meals that are full of fruits and veggies and protein. I haven't had a slice of bread since July, my DH just said last night that was amazing!! NO Cheeseburger nothing. I do drink tons of water. 100 oz a day. I told my DH I was doing it for me, not him, not the kids but for me and it has been one of the best things I've done for myself in a long time. I feel better, look better and am just happier. We are still struggling with money and work, but I applied for a couple jobs and I got the "thanks but no thanks" letter from one of them, but I have an interview this coming week for the other. So wish me luck. I'm going ME shopping today so I hope to find something nice and SMALLER!! Yay me!! So do something for you today, take a ME day and don't feel bad about it, you deserve it and your family will understand, or they should !!!!

I know...I know... I have been AWOL for too long. Thanks for being so patient with me. And thanks to those of you who have taken the time to check on me through email.. It means more than you know. It's so nice to have such good friends that you have never meant As most of you know... my life these past few months have been anything but great... but we are still hanging in there. I have had ups and downs and am making choices that I hope will make life better for all of us. I am seriously thinking about getting a job... I hate to think about my kids in day care but it is a must at this point.. DH is on the fence too. We love the fact that I can be here for them, but times are hard. In my last post he had sold his old truck and now he has another one.. He just didn't like the one he was driving so he found another Peterbilt to drive..It has isn't problems already, so that has been kind of not a good subject here!!! lol.
As you can see my beautiful kids are in full swing of school. Ash is Kindergarten and loves it but still has trouble with me dropping her off. She is getting better and hopefully soon it will pass. Brandon is in the 4th grade and seems to really like his teacher and loves his Science class!!! He is getting big and it at my shoulder already. I'm 5'11" so he is getting there!!!

I have a show in November and am trying to get lots done. I did get these pillows stuffed yesterday and hope to get more done. They have been good sellers for me that the shoppe where I have my things. The economy has been hard out here. My mom's antique shop has closed. The four ladies that run it made the decision to close it while they were ahead and not let the lack of business take them out!! It is bittersweet for my mom. She loves the shop but will love the time at home now too!!

In the past couple of months I have reconnected with some of my very best friends ever... I was a dispatcher for Morgan County, in Ft Morgan Colorado for 7 years and those were really some of the best times for me. I had great friends and have lost touch with some of them. But I decided to things for me more and so I have started having a "me" day and going out with some of my friends and working on getting ME happy again.. I have lost almost 50 pounds since July 20th and feel great!!! I figured if I'm not happy I can't make my family happy.. So there are changes coming and I hope they are all good!!! WE all need to be happy!!! So until next time... I will try to keep up!!!! Love to you all!!!

More candy corn & a new chapter...

Well I have been busy sewing the last couple of days...so now I need to stuff, stuff, stuff.. I did get these done yesterday!!!

Here is another set of my very large candy corn ornies/pillows.. I just love them too and don't quite know yet where I will put them. I may wait and see how my other set does on eBay before I list this set. They do have a bid, but really would like them to go a little higher..here's hoping. I made this set do the ribbon can be on or off which ever is preferred..

And my hubby is starting a new chapter in his trucking career, kind of!! His beloved Peterbilt sold just the other day and I'll tell you what that was hard to see the old girl go out the driveway and down the road knowing that Joe wasn't the one driving it.... He has had that truck for 17 years and it has been a good truck, but with the way things are for us right now, something had to go. He actually has three trucks and has had them all for sale and just said which ever one sold the first he would just drive the other... easy to say hard to do when you are attached to something like he was that truck..

So now he will be driving this truck. Nothing wrong with it really...it's a big ole Kenworth, but he has always been a 'Pete Man'...he is already making noise that he will trade this for another Pete...lol...MEN!! But we are thankful for the sale, it has taken some pressure off..for now..but I still haven't been able to do my school shopping and Brandon's birthday is next week too...so there ya go!!

Some things I have been working one...finally!!!

Okay and one more fair picture!! This is the last night we went. The kids had a blast and it was well worth then money to see them smile and laugh so much.

Just to prove I haven't been just napping in the sun ALL summer!! I have starting working on more projects for fall and the shoppe where I put my things. I do have this set of candy corn pillow listed on eBay but they will go to the shoppe if they don't sell there. I just haven't had much luck with eBay lately and the shoppe is selling well, so I'm going to try to get more things done for them. These are almost pillow sized. They are 9" tall and 7" wide at the base. I love them and my just have to make myself a set also.

I love...love..love this piece, it is a very old and prim oil can with no handle. The fall flowers and pips look just so awesome in it. I took it to the consignment shoppe and it sold right away...and I don't have more flowers unless I do the road trip thing again.. Maybe this week sometime for school shopping and I'll sneak over to Hobby Lobby for more!

The arrangement is very pretty too, the pictures doesn't really do it justice. I took it to the shoppe also and they said I had my things priced to LOW!!! Well that was good to hear that I'm not overpricing them, but from now on I'll just take the tags and have them help me with what they think I should be asking. I have a hard time pricing things because I can't afford much these days it's hard for me to ask a price I can't pay myself...make sense!!??

I'm so proud of this hutch. It is child's sized and made by my dad. He does pretty amazing work for 75 and not have the best of eyesight anymore. This is one of four he has made so far. He has done two in the old color green and white and now two in the classic old red/white. One is a bright red and white and the other is a more prim cinnamon/red color. They are just adorable. I put them in the shoppe and they have been very popular and I guess they have had people ask if he could make an entire kitchen set!!! I don't know if he is up to that but these hutches are just adorable and I want one for me too!! I'll have to do some sweet talking!!

Speaking of school...my kids have to go back on the 26th. We did do some shopping here yesterday. I don't know if I'm ready for both of them to be gone. Ashley will only be there 1/2 a day.. that is good...break ME in slowly!!! I will miss them, but I think they will be ready once they get to see all their friends again.

Fun At the Fair!!!

We have had a busy summer. It seems like at the beginning of it all I got done was mowing!! Our place looked better than it ever has and I actually got some flowers to survive. We have bad soil and salty water, so I have to plant everything in containers and water with "good" water...but with all the rain I used buckets and caught most of the water for the plants and they thrived.. I was so proud!! lol
We did get to the lake, my last post, and then just a couple of weeks later was a small fair the the neighboring community where I grew up!! It is a nice small fair and everyone knows everybody and it is just a blast for the kids, they all get to ride the horses and enter the rodeo for $1 an event and it's great to see all your family and friends. We have tagged it "The World's Fair" and it is good homegrown fun.
Ash was so excited for the fair, they have a 'stick horse' race for the tiny tots and they all get a ribbon no matter what and Ashley bought her a trusty steed at our garage sale for $1!!! His name is Brownie! and he is FAST!!! A few years ago at the fair when Ash did the stick horse race for the first time, she got gone with her turn and came and told me that her horse ran away with her, which was so funny, since she is the one doing the running!!! Anyway...here are some of the pictures from the fair. Good times!! Brandon didn't feel good, so he didn't make any of the pictures that I have. Poor guy was having allergy issues and slept in Grandma and Grandpa camp trailer most of the day!! :(.

Sometimes things do go as planned at the fair!! I love this shot. This is my niece Paige, she had just finished up showing her chickens, I even got to help. She did get first in her division, but lost over all to a pigeon!!! She was heartbroken and her daddy, my brother Scott was there for love and support!!!! She did a great job and we were all very proud of her!!!

The bigger County Fair starts here this week and it has a carnival with rides.. the kids are excited about it... I'll get pictures and do another post...
BUT DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH!! I have been kind of slow, but I really appreciate all of you that follow me and check in on me.. I'll get better once it slows down when school starts... I have been sewing a lot too and have that to share with you too!!! Keep looking I may surprise you!!

The old saying in my title couldn't be more true...
Needless to say most of you know that my family has had a tough winter/spring and it hasn't gone unnoticed by my friends and one in particular wanted to do something...so she did what she does best...make something from her heart!!! Jody, Star Spangled Pretties, we became fast friends... We meant in an eBay group. We are neighbors after all.. she is from Wyoming and we share the love of the flat land we both live on and we both almost used the Platte River, which runs through both of our states as a possible part of an eBay seller name at one time or another!!! She is so very talented with her dolls that I have always longed for one but never have had the money to buy one, but Jody fixed that... when not just myself but two other of our group members were having a tough time this winter with hubbies out of work, Jody went to work!!! She was in the midst of remodeling her house, yet still found the time to make all three of us dolls!! She made one with a red dress, blue dress and my 'Jody' doll with this creamy white dress!!! I just love her and Jody filled my box with lots of little extras that she know I could and will use on my projects!!! She is just the best and I can't wait for the day I can see her in person and give her a hug!!! She really did brighten what has been a dark time for me and just knowing that she cared that much has given me some new hope that things WILL get better!!! Go peek at her blog, her and her sweetie did an amazing remodel on their home... I want them to come to mine now!!! Thanks Jody, thanks for caring enough to share your heart with me!! LOVE YOU!!!

Where Have I Been???? 061009

I know, I know.....where have I been??? Very busy as I'm sure a lot of you are at the end of a school year and beginning of summer. Actually a lot has gone on it seems since my last post over a MONTH ago!!! I have been so bad!!! My DH is finally back to work!!! But we are still kind of day to day with it, so we still have to be very careful and hope that this work holds out for him and that we don't have to sell anything else we really don't want to, to just keep going. We have also had a rough spring with deaths in my small hometown community. We buried two friends in a week and 4 since Dec. So it has been a difficult time for lots of people I love. I have such great friends and family with great support, I'm just glad I grew up in the community I did, they are always there for you when you need them most!!!

The kids are both out of school now and enjoying their summer break thus far. We have had an unheard of, for Colorado, amount of rain the past month so our out door activities have been limited. No pool yet, but I really don't want to get into a bathing suit!!! Oh my eyes!! lol
This picture of Brandon was at his school track meet!!! No his hair was not fixed like that on purpose... The wind was blowing so hard it made it just stand on end... It was terrible, but the kids really didn't seem to mind and they had a fun day and the ALL got awards no matter what. He is officially a 4th grader now!!!! Oh he isn't suppose to be growing up that fast!!
This was Ashley's last day of school. She didn't want to leave because she doesn't think that she want to go to kindergarten "with all those spelling words", as she so tearfully put it!!! Her teachers Jo and Karen were just such a joy for her to have and she misses them terribly, but we have promised to visit next school year.

I was also, in my absence, working on things for the spring open house at my mom's antique shop. It was a bitter sweet day. They have decided to close the shop this summer for good!!! :( The economy as claimed yet another victim. The past few years have been hard on the shop and they want to close before they 'have' to and just enjoy time at home. The four ladies who own it are all good friends but all lead busy lives outside the shop so they will not be lacking for something to do I'm sure!! But is it sad to see it close. They will be open through the summer then lock the doors. But on an exciting note, I have put some of my things into a shoppe here in Sterling. It's called French Creek Market. It is a very neat shoppe with quite an eclectic variety of offerings, old, new, candles, specialty teas and classes. I'm hoping it will be a good outlet for me. Ebay has been slow for me and If I can get something going here that would be great. This is just one of the things I made for the open house. I have many more but it would take up too much space.... The shoppe I'm in doesn't have a website or blog yet, but once they do I'll post a link so you call see all the goodies there. I'm excited and hope it is a good thing for me!!

Oh, my sweet little helper Ashley!!! I painted my room and she wanted to help so badly, so I let her help, but it really didn't last too long, but she is dressed for a mess don't you think!!! Since she is only 5 the topless things is okay for now!!! lol She has on her dad's 'mowing' hat and raggedy jeans...perfect painting attire in my book!!!

It needed it's Spring cleaning anyway, so while I was at it I just painted two walls. I just LOVE it!!! It was just all white before and now it is "Spartan Stone". It is just such a pretty calm color and my room actually looks bigger. The bedspread is a very old chenille bed spread that my mom gave me to make snowmen out of, but it only has a few flaws, so I am using it until I can get something else make. The quilt is from my Grandma, who just turned 99, and is all done by her. It is hand quilted and it a treasure for me.

I don't have a picture of my front yard, it actually looks good too with all of this good rain we are getting. I'll save that for my next post... I miss everyone and what is going on in your lives. I'll be better, so don't give up on me!!! Busy summer has just begun..we still have VBS, swimming lessons, a lake trip and two fairs in the future!!! I hope you are all having a great summer!!!

HAPPY "ODD DAY "!~ 050709

Just a piece of useless trivia I heard on the morning news this morning. It only occurs 6 times a Century..when the DAY/MONTH/YEAR are all odd numbers that are consecutive and it will happen next June on 060810.. Now you have that to look forward to next June!!! Don't you feel so much smarter already??? Hey they may use that question on a game show and you will know the answer!!! lol

I haven't been posting much because I have been sewing up a storm. I did sell some things on eBay and now have some more things listed and do have lookers so maybe things will pick up there for me.!! My mom's antique shop is also having a spring open house at the end of the month so I have been trying to get things done for that too!!

I just love the crow pillows and hope that they turn out to be good sellers for me. They are listed on eBay too!! Go take a peek and see what I have been up too. My laundry pile is telling me I need to take a break for a day and get some wash done. :0)

These pinwheels are listed too, I had a lady ask for set right after the auction went off so I got busy and made more, I have three more sets almost done, just waiting for the bells to rust. My DH even went to Hobby Lobby and got more for me!! He is a keeper!! lol

I tried my hand at making this pantry/vanity box. I really like it but haven't listed it yet, I may save it for the show, but then again if someone wants it, it can go now!!! I lined it with some pretty tissue paper and make it look shabby. It is pretty.

My poor DH, as most of you know he has been in and out of work, mostly out, all year. We are struggling and he has about given up hope. He was just in here talking to me and said the he .." I have NOTHING to hope for anymore. I have been told "NO" so many times in the past two months I just don't know what to do anymore.". Just made me tear up and just rips at my heart. He has called and called and called, but just keeps getting the same answer..."it will pick up"...but not soon enough for us. I'm at a loss and not sure what is going to happen. I keep praying that things will get better. He just can't sit and watch it happen anymore. I feel so badly for him, he thinks he is letting us all down. Please keep us and all the other families that are struggling in your prayers, we all need it!!!

'bout time!!! I have finally been sewing again!!

It's like riding a bike....I haven't forgotten how to sew!!!
I just haven't felt up to it, but I know that I need to do it to get my mind off of 'other stuff'!!! It's like connecting with an old friend. I made four Americana Primitive pillows this week. DH claims he thinks they are the best things I have done so far!! I don't know about that but he really likes them and it was such a nice thing for him to say!!! He is a sweetie...

I also made some so cool papier mache star bowl fillers, covered with fabric.. I love them and really want to keep them, but I was only able to get four of the stars and need to sell something to help out even if a little bit!! DH also thinks I start my things way to low, but I have struggled with that from the beginning of my selling days on eBay. If I start them low, I get lots of lookers and then only a bid or two and if I raise my prices I don't get bids at all. I've tried the "buy it now" option and that hasn't done it for me either!!! So I start them low and hope that I get lots of bids!! I can dream can't I??? lolThis blue/white one is my favorite I think, the colors are pretty but it is simply prim!!

Spring Break Trip to Grandma's House

Hello Friends!!! I has been awhile since my last post...I've been counting!!! tee hee.. See previous post!! I've been trying anyway.. Things are still tough here but we keep praying for things to break loose and work to pick back up. Thanks all of you for your prayers and good thoughts... your nice comments and support help me more than you realize. I have been feeling pretty down lately and alone, so your friendship means the world to me.
The kids and I got to take our trip to Illinois after all to see DH's mom.. Grandma Locke. DH was worried about us taking that long drive without him but 1523.8 miles later we made it there and back without any problems, Just fought the wind driving there. But other than that it was a great trip. I have tons of pictures but only have space for a few and I don't want to bore you, so here are a few of my favs!!! Joe's mom lives in Quincy, Ill, but has tons of family history in Historical Hannibal Missouri.. I could live there in a second!!! I love, love, love the river and could sit and watch it for hours. Grandma Locke's Great Uncle was a boyhood buddy of Sam Clemens, aka, Tom Sawyer. Family history is very important to Kaye so we got a really interesting history lesson while there. It was fun and I hope the kids remember it all. We WILL go back and get more..we all loved it!! Okay now to my pictures.....This cutie is DH's Grandma!! So she is the kids Great Grandma!! She is a tiny one!! Brandon at 9 is already taller than her and look where Ash is at!!! She has almost lost her sight but she still lives in her home and cleans and cooks for her self. Joe's nephew lives with her but she does a lot on her own. We got to take her to the store for groceries, that was a fun trip and the kids loved it. This is the first time she has been able to meet them. She doesn't travel much and we have only been back to Ill a one other time since we have been married, Joe's mom comes here most of the time, and last time we were there she was sick and didn't want company.. understandable at 98!!!

The kids and I were on our own most days, since Grandma had to work but we found out way around pretty well. This is the riverfront in Quincy, ILL and this bridge takes you to Missouri. They had a great time and got to see a very big barge and tub boat.. My first too!!! We had a great day!! I love my kids ....

This is Hannibal Missouri, what a neat little town. Which if you don't know is over the river from Quincy. Kaye lived there for awhile and we love it, so we try ti visit it also when we can. So much history and neat shops there!!! This is the view from Lovers Leap that is south of Hannibal a few miles. It was such a pretty day and we there was a riverboat taking a test drive that day, so that was a treat for the kids to see. Far in the distance in this picture you can see a lighthouse, we climbed the hundreds of steps up to it!! What a view and well worth it!!!

This is the walking path up by the lighthouse. It was fun and you could see for miles and miles. The kids slept very well that night!! I didn't get a picture of the Tom Sawyer cave in this post, but I'll do a remix or something and get more on here, it was so interesting and where some of our family history is. Sam Honeyman's siggy is in the cave and he was the friend of Tom Sawyer, who knows, he may have been with him when he wrote hisname on the wall..

Grandma Locke!!!The kids just love her so much, well, so do Joe and I, but she really has a special connection with the kids. They would move in if she would let us! She has a cute home and lives a great life. She takes care of Grandma Hoagland and is a Red Hat Lady and keeps herself busy with friends and fixing up her home!! We hope to go back this summer to see her again. Hopefully DH will get to go this time.

I have been counting & counting...and reminding myself how truly blessed I am. I haven't had much good to post about lately with my DH not working steady at all. And my fears for our future.
But when I look around me...we may be broke...but we are blessed. I have a wonderful, loving, caring, husband, two beautiful kids and a supportive family that loves me no matter what!!! This pictures was taken last Mother's Day at my parents house in Stoneham, Colorado. It is about 120 NE of Denver. It is a very, VERY small community that has had it's share of tragedy the past few years that makes me realize how lucky I have to have all my siblings, their spouses, both parents, nieces, nephews and even my 98 yoa Grandma still!!! And all the friends I have...the ones I have never meant from my eBay groups, to right here in blog land. Without you, I would be a goner!!! Thank you ALL!! Each day is a gift and what we chose to do with it is up to us, not anyone else.
Aren't we all so pretty!!! I love them all!! I don't tell them enough. So I love you all with all my heart. I'll try to tell you or show you more!!!

I am blessed that we had a terrible snow storm last week. It meant two more precious days with my kids at home safe and some much needed moisture for our very dry prairie..... Keep counting....

I am so blessed to have my sweet Ashie Jo!!! She had such a rough few months, but now look at her!!! She has become a quite the helper in the kitchen. She can crack eggs with the best of them and even scramble and cook her own, of course with moms help, but not to much, because she is all into doing it "by myself"....oh keep counting..but not to fast, she is growing up way too fast for my liking!!!

I'm not sure what she is making here but I'm sure it was delicious!!! She has a "Hulk" tattoo on her hand... she is a bit of a Tomboy!!! lol I'm still counting!!!

And we can't forget about Brandon, what a good boy he is and he is growing into such a handsome young man. My hubby just said that if few minutes ago what a good kid he is. He is just the light of our lives and makes us proud to be his parents. I look at him at times and it feels as if he is changing before my very eyes, His face is changing and he is getting so tall and really is a loving and caring big brother. He is very protective of Ashley and I hope he always will be and he will be the one she will go to when she needs to talk or to feel safe and never left out of the crowd..
DH and I both know the day will come when both of our kids will grow up and we won't be cool anymore, but until then we will keep counting our blessings and not what we may or may not have in our bank accounts because at the end of the day, the greatest things in life aren't THINGS....they look us in the face each day and tell us they love us and that we are the "best ever"!!!!
I'll keep counting and praying, because we still do need the prayers but I will try not to dwell on the things that we really can't control right now.

Ahhh....Springtime in Colorado!!!

Yes, it is officially spring in Colorado!! It is snowing and blowing and the kids are home with a snow day!!!! After a weekend of beautiful weather, yes it was 86 here on Sunday!! And where was I?? I was helping my mom and sister-in-law paint the inside of a house!!! Oh the price we pay for some $$$ !!!! lol. It was worth it though, we need the money and the kids got to spend two great days outside with DH, great bonding time for them!!! The flower isn't from my yard but typical for Colorado to have your daffodils blooming and then blanketed with snow!!

The next picture IS our yard from our living room window. This morning the phone rang at 5:45!! That just scares the puddin' out of me to have the phone ring that early in the morning!!! The school has an automatic system that calls on such a day. So I left sleeping children and DH in bed and had
my morning coffee and watched the weather!! Brandon came flying out of the bedroom at 6:50 almost in tears because he thought he was going to be in trouble and miss the bus!!! Ash was all happy to, she gets a whole day with big brother!!!
DH isn't happy today.. AT ALL... he got ONE day of work and then they shut him off again!! He is just sick about it, but we keep praying things are going to get better!!

I just have to share my pretties with you too!!! My friend Grethen, Caw of the Crow Primitiives, she has some of the neatest things in her Lemon Poppy Seed Shop. I meant her in eBay and she is just a wonderful person and has a beautiful family with a inspiring story. Her son Ty is a cancer survivor and his little sister Sammy saved his life with a bone marrow transplant. Go to her blog and read all about her great family... and while you are there you will see my dish towel I got from her!!! Her momma made them and I just had to have the one with the little girl and chicken on it!! But it is way to cute to use so I paired it up with this old fiesta pitcher and one of my lamps that didn't sell and tucked it in the corner of my kitchen counter!!! SO DARN CUTE!! I think she has a couple designs left and may have more!!! Go take a peek!!!

Whatca Working on Wednesday!!!???

I know, I know ....it's been awhile!!! But I have no good excuse so I won't give you one!! I haven't been sewing very much lately but do need to get back to it. It has been so beautiful here that we have been trying to do more outside. DH went back to work briefly, now he is out of work again and more worried than ever before about it now. It is sad to see him so dejected!! He has always been able to find work without fail or problem. So now we are working on his waiver so he can run all 50 states. With the blindness in his right eye he has extra steps and lots and lots of paperwork to turn in so he can drive in any state not just Colorado. I have been volunteering at Ash's school in the library so that keeps me busy and my mind off of "stuff". But I'm done now, so I need to get busy sewing and other "stuff".. lol

But we both try to stay positive and have planned to go to him mom's house in Quincy IL for Easter. If he does get some work the kids and I will go without him, which we don't want to do, but we need the break and the change of scenery!!
Now for what I have been working on... I have listed a couple of Easter things, the two lamps way at the bottom of this post. They are so darn cute and NOT selling!! Makes me sad really, they are cute and I just love them, but there are a lot of very talented artists on eBay so I do have some tough competition, plus the economy, so I try not to let it get me down, but when you need the money it makes it worse. They are listed for a couple more days and then I will pack them away for next year of give them to family, so they do get to be enjoyed!!
But I am very excited about these Americana Flags banners I just go done!! I saw the idea in a new sewing book a got awhile back and just fell in love with them, and they would be so cute hanging from a mantel, banister or even outside on a porch. I have none of those things, so I hung them from our old fence, but they look cool there also. I do have them listed on eBay right now, so go take a peek. I have some fun ideas running around in my head for other holidays too!! Halloween, Christmas and I think I'm going to make a set for Ash's room with her name on them!! They are fun and fun to make also.!!

I think of all of my blog friends a lot and look forward to hearing from you. I just haven't been
very good company here lately!!! I hope your lives are all full of happiness and that the spring weather is creeping into your homes and hearts and that the new life that comes with spring will also bring new life into our lives and things will somehow get back to some sense of normalcy!!

Happy Square Root day!! I just heard this on the Today show and then again on the radio!! 9 is the square root of 3, hence where they get square root day, and it won't happen again until 040416!!! Just a bit of useless trivia that you might need some day!! lol

The above picture is a beautiful site!!! My hubby's truck pulling out of our drive, and heading BACK TO WORK!! We don't know for how long, but at this point a day or two is better than none. He went back yesterday and again today, I just pray it isn't short lived and we can start getting back to normal again!!! Keep your fingers crossed for us..I know there are a lot of good people out of work and I pray for everyone each night!!

And these are my Ity Bity Chicks!! They are so cute!!! They are only about 3" tall and 2" across. I have them listed on eBay, so go take a peep...err peek at them. I also have some eggs listed that I just love and won't be heart broken if they don't sell!!!

Hoping our dreams aren't going up in smoke!!!

It seems like it has been a very long time since my last post. So I thought I'd better get to it!! I just haven't been up to posting much lately, I know that with the shape our country is in right now it is effecting a lot of people, and yours truly isn't immune to it!! My hubby has been out of work for almost a month. He is an independent truck driver and relies on brokers to find him loads, he is legally blind in one eye, so has a restriction on his license and can only drive in Colorado ,in the winter months he hauls corn and in the summer works on road construction hauling asphalt. So when no corn is moving he isn't either, and he can only haul asphalt when there are road jobs working and in the winter in Colorado it is to cold for that. Needless to say, it has been very stressful on us and on him as the sole provider for our family. He really feels like he is letting us down. I have offered to go get a job, but then there aren't any jobs in a town this size and I sure can't make what we need to keep up. So he has sold a truck that he was so thrilled to be able to have. It was a classic Peterbilt, one like his dad drove when Joe was very young, and since Joe's dad died when Joe was only 11, he had a very soft spot for that truck. He was going to restore it and then drive it, but hard times mean some very hard decisions, he sold it to a very nice man in Iowa that collects and restores trucks and shows them, so we know it went to a good home and will more than likely be on the cover of a Trucking Magazine or on a calendar sometime in the near future, but that really didn't make it any easier to let go. So that took some pressure off for awhile, but that money will all go to bills and will soon be gone also, Joe has been trying to find work all over the place and hasn't had much luck. The price of corn is way down so the farmers aren't selling, which we understand, being a farm girl myself, the farmers have to look out for themselves as much as everyone else, if not more!! But it isn't doing us any good either. He is just sick with worry and so am I. And on top of all of this, I have been a mess, worry, stress, menopause!! lol!! I cry a lot and he just gives me my space but is very understanding also, so I can deal with my hormones!!! Have a said what a great guy he is?? So with all of this,neither one of us sleeps much anymore,but we try to make light of it and not let the kids know how worried we really are. They keep us sane at times like these. Thank God For Kids!!! SOOOO, since my honey isn't running up and down the road in his truck we have tackled the mountains of tumble weeds that found a home in our windbreak over the winter!! And apparently the wind blew a lot!! lol We raked and burned weeds for 5 hours the other day and still have a windbreak line to do. And since we are shamelessly out of shape, we both felt it the next day. It was good to get out in the fresh air and clear our heads for a bit. Ashley thought it was great fun to make the big fire!!!

My honey watching over things, I wonder what he is thinking about!! I'm sure there are many worried thoughts going through his mind. I hope something breaks for him soon!! He is such a good man and hates not being able to work for us!! I really do think he feels like ours lives are going up in smoke also right now!! I know we will get through this rough patch, and hopefully will come out smelling like a rose not a burnt tumble weed!!! Hugs to you all!!!

Monster Jam crashes & then one of our own!!!

This past weekend we got to go to Monster Jam in Denver. We had gone before, but this is the first time Ashley got to go! She was more excited than Brandon I think. She loves her Monster Trucks especially MONSTER MUTT!! Thank goodness he was one of the trucks that were there. GRAVE DIGGER is always there, that truck is the big draw but they you never know which trucks may be at this show. We went to the Pit Party and got all the drives autographs and pictures with each one. We had great seats close to the auction. Ashley is already talking about next year!!
It was a great family day and the kids and Hubby and I had a great day together. But we had a little smash up of your own on the way home. We were only about 10 miles from home when we hit a deer on a bridge!! My car won, but that deer did some damage. See below pictures. But none of us were hurt and the kids really didn't get upset about it. Brandon just couldn't understand why the deer just didn't wait to cross the road!! Don't we all wonder that!!

Fun with glue, paper and paint!!! lol

Good day all!!! I've been having so much fun with paint and glue!! No, I haven't been helping in Ashley's pre-school. My GF Susie, Yankee Lane Primitives, sent me some of her hotter than hot labels and I got busy right away!! SuXie, as we call her in our eBay group!!, long story!!, has been buried in labels and I can see why, they are great and so much fun to cut and paste with!!! My hubby needed a box or something in his bathroom for Q-tips so I found this cute paper mache box at Wal-mart for less than $1, I think it was .97!! And I sprayed the inside matte black. Then I took some of my leftover wallpaper from the same bathroom, and covered the
bottom of the box with it and then I painted the top black then put on some crackle medium, let that dry then painted it a color called THICKET, Once that was dry I used Mod Podge and adhered the label that I fancy cut with some scissors I had from my wedding, I knew I get to use them again!! Then to really prim it up I brushed on some strong coffee mixed with paint called COFFEE BEAN to give it a good aged look, then sprayed it with a clear coat and let it dry!! My hubby said that it was a pretty fancy box for Q-tips!! lol, He really does like it and it now has a new home in his bathroom!!

I got the plaque at Wal-mart also for less than $2 and I sanded it first then painted it Raw Sienna and then sanded it again, then painted it Barn Red, sanded, dry brushed on some black, glued on the label with mod podge, then let it dry, added the holes and wire then I dry brushed it with some black again in some places and sanded for a good worn look!! I love it and now I just need to fix up my laundry room so it will be as cute as my plaque!!! Oh all the paint I used it the FOLK ART brand you get at Wal-mart!! Can you tell that is the ONLY shopping place I have here!!! lol

New Listings for Easter on eBay & A New Friend!!

Oh my, where did a week go??? I had a great time with my sister at my nephews games. It was a lot of driving but well worth the time away and with my sister. Ashley was a perfect little traveler. She never once said she was bored or asked "are we there yet". She slept a lot and just sat back and watched the scenery. We went through the Eisenhower Tunnel on I-70, it is a very large, long tunnel, she was so excited to get to go through the mountain. I am finally getting my house caught back up and back in my routine again. And I finally did get a few things for Easter listed. My Valentine's hearts did okay, nothing to ease the national debt but they moved so that is good. So here is what I have listed this week, I hope to have more done soon. This cheese box has two 3-D egg and a "JUST HATCHED" chick!!

This door doll was fun to make and she is ready for Easter.

ROAD TRIP!!!

My sister emailed me yesterday and asked if Ash and I would like to go to Grand Junction and Gunnison to watch my two nephews play basketball, they both play for CSU-Pueblo, if you look at this site, my nephew is Jake #34, he is 6' 9" and has been playing very well the last few games!! Brother, Ty is only a freshman so doesn't get a lot of play time, but he will. Anyway, we are leaving this afternoon to go her house and then leaving in the morning. It is about a 6 hour drive and she wanted some company. It will be good to get away for a few days. Ash is just excited to get to stay in a hotel, she was laying out all her clothes this morning and telling me what she wants to wear each day!!! It will be fun and will nice to spend some time with my sister and Brandon and Hubby will get some good Dad & Me time also.

Ashley's Birthday what a fun day!!

Getting her Birthday hug from Daddy!!! He can't leave the house without his hugs & kisses in the morning!!Trying out the new slide, and it sounds like a piano playing when you slide down it!! And yes she dressed herself!!! lol She is in need of a haircut also!!

Ashley had a fun day for her 5th birthday!! Neither one of them had school so I had them to myself all day. She picked the newly re-opened McDonald's for lunch and that was perfect as you can see they have a indoor playground and the wind here was just terrible yesterday so it worked out great. We stayed for a long time and they got to do a lot and had fun!!

Today is my sweet girls 5th Birthday!! It's hard to believe it was 5 years ago. Where does the time go!!?? We had a trying year with her and her health and just feel so blessed and fortunate that she is so much better and healthy and happy. She was born on a very bitter cold day and I day that was clouded with grief also. A young woman in my hometown community was killed in a car accident on her way to work as an EMT here in Sterling, she has an identical twin sister, they were both very popular girls, they were excellent basketball players, and she had her whole life ahead of her, Her name was Andi, When I heard the news I didn't want to have Ash on such a sad day, but as someone from Stoneham said when they heard I had Ash, "What a wonderful and happy thing to happen on such a sad day." I guess it just goes to prove that life does go on and that is God's way of letting us know than even in sadness there is hope. I just tell everyone That Ashley has the best Angel ever!!

This picture is from June of 06. Brandon was the ring bearer at his Kindergarten teachers wedding. They both looked so nice and made me very proud that day!!
They are such good friend!! I love them so much!!
She informed me this morning that she must still be four because she just doesn't feel five yet!! Oh just wait!! lol

This was her 4th birthday!! Yes it is January and she is wearing a sun top!! She wanted to wear that for her birthday, a hand me down from cousin Paige!! She was so happy to be wearing something that Paige had!!

This picture was just last month. She was eating her fruitie pebbles watching "her shows'. She is such a blessing to my husband, Brandon & I. She really does make us a complete family and we cherish each day with both of our kids. I sure don't know what I would do without either one of them.

As Brandon said when he walked out the door to the bus... "Oh My Gosh Mom, look at that!!! "What a beautiful sunrise we had earlier this week!! So glad I don't have tall building blocking the view!!

I have the big heart in this set listed and was waiting for a response from a buyer on the smaller set but I haven't heard from her so I guess I will list them and hope to get some bids, I've only got a bid on my garland so far this week. I should has just skipped Valentine's and went to Easter, it is getting late for hearts already!! Heck I make candy corn in July and sell them about as fast as I can make them!! It's carzy how far ahead of the holiday things actually sell!!

I love this set,they are listed, click here, the can be stacked or displayed like this, I primed them up with coffee/cinnamon and baked them too!! I won't be sad if they don't sell. But I can make more if they do!!

I got more hearts done!!! Finally, I haven't sold since September on eBay, mostly because of Ashley's being so sick but also because of my craft shows and the fact that eBay was so slow and things were going for hardly anything if at all, great if you are a buyer but if you are trying to make grocery money with it, it was bad and the fees would eat up most of your profit!! I know you all know that, but I have decided to try to get more things out there and sell again. My hearts did very well last year so I'm hoping for the same this year. There are so many talented artists out there that I am always a little humbled that my things sell, you are all amazing!!!

This set is so pretty and can be used all year, not just for Valentines Day!!

Can you believe it!! I finally got some sewing done. With all this life stuff going on I haven't sewn for a long time and haven't listed any thing on eBay since Ashley was in the hospital the FIRST time!!! But my machine was calling and I have a nice gal in MO that wanted some hearts, so I hope she likes some of these for her shop. I have two more sets I didn't get pictures on here yet.

These are kind of Shabby Chic..such pretty spring colors, more for than just Valentine's Day!

I love these, they have a cute Mary Englebreit fabric in the center.
My hubby even liked this set!!

This, That & The Other Tuesday!!!

Well, it's a new year and the kids are back in school. Time to get back to This, that and the other that I call life!! Thanks to all of you that have sent prayers my way for my Grandma and my friends family that was killed. Grandma is doing okay!! I went and did her hair on New Year's Day. She didn't know who I was at first then she asked about my kids, so she was coming around. I was kind of upset when I first got there, she was sleeping, but didn't look good, but once they got her up she looked better and rested. She still can't use her left side but does okay. She is 98 so I can't expect her to be what she was when I was the kids age. I can dream, can't I?? Brandon loves being home and didn't want to go back to school very bad last night, but by this morning he was ready to go. Ashley hugged him and gave him sweet sister advice and said it would be okay and that we would be here when he got home!! She loves her brother so much!! She went right in her room and waved bye to me, so she was okay with going back!! But I miss them, but at least I can take the tree down without them asking to leave it up "just a little longer"...lol I have added a few pictures of our goings on during break, with the heartache we had we also had fun and times that take away the pain and remind us that life goes on and that is how it is suppose to be!!! I haven't been very good at posting since my last one on the 20th. Such a busy time of year this is and with the going's on since my last post, it just slaps you in the face that live happens and so do bad things in the midst of such a joyful holiday.
My last post was about my dear Grandma King and what a gift she is to me and my entire family. We just a few days after that post she fell out of bed and they thought she may have broken her pelvis. She had a minor stroke and has lost use of her left side. Not completely, but enough so that she is now in a wheel chair and with her current memory loss, she doesn't remember that she can't get up and so she has fallen twice more. The poor thing just doesn't know not to try to stand up. She has always been very independent and being told not to do something makes her that more determined to do it!! She is a fighter, but they now have give her a mattress that has higher sides so she won't roll out of bed with out help. I just love her so much and hope that she will not have to suffer with much pain.
And then if Grandma having a stroke wasn't enough, a very good lifelong friend of our family got killed on Dec 23rd on his farm in rural NE Colorado. Jesse was doing what he loved, working outside and with his cattle, and there was an accident with his loader that took his young life. He was only 34 and had two young boys that thought their dad hung the moon. His funeral was yesterday. It was the largest funeral I have ever been to, so much sadness but also a great celebration of Jesse's life and his love for it. My heart goes out to his family and all the friends he has left behind, he will be missed.
Yet among the sadness and worry we did have a very nice Christmas with my family and have been able to spend a lot of time with our kids at home. They are so very important to us, and in light of the recent events we cherish them and everyone we know and love that much more.
My wish for all of you this New Year is that it is happy, healthy and prosperous and that you let the loved ones in your life know everyday how very much you love them. Even if you think they know it, tell them again and again, you can never tell someone enough...I Love You!!!

A Frosty Day... & ... What a gift I have!!!

On Thursday night we had a very quick and icy snow storm come through, but what a pretty picture it made for us the next morning!!!Jasper even had icicles hanging from his face. But he LOVES the snow and cold!!!
The fog was very dense and so cold, we had to "listen" for the bus this morning we couldn't see it.
But the best part of my day was this...my gift!! This is my 98 yoa Grandma King. She is in home here in town and I go once a week and do her hair. I don't do it as well as a professional would but it makes her feel better and it's good for Ashley and I to get to spend time with her.
Bless her heart, I have to tell her who I am almost every week and she thinks Ashley is a boy, but she loves on her and hugs her and gives her candy. Ash just loves Grandma King to death, she always has. Grandma is the oldest in our family and Ashley is the youngest, the fourth generation, so I feel lucky to have them both in my life and able to share some time together even if Grandma doesn't remember each time she is thrilled to have company and some time with us, Ashley and I will remember it and it is a gift for me each week that we get to go visit and get a hairdo!!! Love you Grandma!!

I've been so busy the past couple of weeks I have neglected my blog!!! Thanks to all of you that keep checking in and leaving me your sweet comments. I love hearing from all of you so I'll try to keep up now that is is slowing down just a bit.. I have been busy...as I'm sure all of you are, it's not just me!!! I went to Ashley's pre-school the other day to help them make Gingerbread men, and alias I have no pictures of them because I was the one with the messy hands!!! But I got a great group shot of them by the singing snowman in the lobby of the school. Ash is the tall one with the pink pants and brown shirt on the left side.. And the one below here she is writing her name and being a reindeer!!

I wanted to share some of my Christmas decor, but haven't done it so the next two are of some of the things in my home. My tree is huge!! TOO big, I want a tall skinny tree, my hubby says next year!!! But this one is pretty is just takes up to much room in my little living room!! I should have taken a new picture of the tree, it does have gifts under it now1!! My angel swap angel found a home on the shelf along with some of my own creations!!

This last one is of the kids at the mall in Pueblo, CO. I had done a show the day before at my sisters school and the next day we got to go to Pueblo to watch my nephews play basketball the CSU-Pueblo. Jake and Ty both are on the squad there. Jake starts and Ty is only a freshman so he gets limited playing time right now, but it was fun to get to go see them and get some shopping done too. They kids hammed it up for me, as usual!!!

I truly hope all of you are ready for Christmas but remember the reason for the season and the YOUR FAMILY IS YOUR GIFT!! I didn't ask for a thing for Christmas this year, My gift is the health and happiness of my kids, that is all I need!!!
